Erin's Body In Motion Tour Sneak Preview - Concert & Adventure-Land Ride with Special Guests Dave Carter, Keith Lowe, Michael Savage & Joel Litwin
Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013
Royal Room, Seattle, WA 8pm
Join me on Saturday, Sept 21 for my biggest show in a decade at the fabulous Royal Room, Seattle's premiere concert stage and music-lover's mecca created and lovingly curated by the ever-visionary Wayne Horvitz and the previous owners of the historic OK Hotel.
$12 advance / $15 at the door, available from Stranger Tickets
All ages show. Bar with ID.
In support of the upcoming U.S. release of my album Where The Body Is, I'll be returning to Seattle for my first full-length show in 10 years at the Royal Room.
Joining me will be Dave Carter (Bill Frisell, Pearl Jam) on trumpet, Keith Lowe (Fiona Apple, Wayne Horvitz) on bass, Joel Litwin (John Miller, Arête Quartet) on drums and even my amazing artistic enabler and producer Michael Savage on piano and electric keyboards.
You'll hear songs from my album Where The Body Is of course.
I'll also be debuting what to me are some of my most exciting and ambitious songs and such that I've been creating the past few years but never previously performed in public.
This means that for the first time in my career I'll actually be playing my beloved and somewhat unpredictable (in an interesting way) Melosonic 350 vintage combo organ as well as other keyboards.
I'll also be performing for the very first time with some of my favorite awesome musicians on the West Coast!
I'm not sure how to say this next part, except that I am very intentionally aiming beyond anywhere I've ever gone before for this show. This is because of artists like Cuong Vu, Sufjan Stevens, Stina Nordenstam, Mari Boine, Jon Brion, Beck, Bjork and Thom Yorke whose music has had such a creatively liberating effect on me these past few years. Plus you only live once, and it's not like being myself artistically is going to suddenly damage my career after such a long hiatus (ten years!). Is it alternative pop, folk, jazz, post-rock, poetry or music? Whatever. To me it's more about alchemy, like let's turn a room of straw into gold. Anyway for all these reasons I don't want to hold back anymore; I want to go full tilt into a landscape of beauty and ensemble and playfulness, transformation and adventure.
So this will be my most adventurous performance to date. I anticipate many unforeseen elements both high and low, and I invite you to join us as we surf the waves, improvise through any glitches and maybe even experience some unrepeatable glories.
Advance tickets are recommended since it only holds about 100 people and it's my first full-length Seattle show in ten years.
